Artwork Requirements

Art: Artwork can be submitted via e-mail, disk media (3.5 floppies Mac/pc, 100MB Zip disks, or CD Rom) or traditional PMT hard copy. Artwork provided electronically is a service that ensures a quick and reliable art transfer. To achieve this, the Artwork Specifications below MUST be followed. If you provide artwork that does not meet our requirements and is not "Camera-Ready, additional time and charges will be needed to adjust your artwork to insure the best possible imprint. Customers are responsible for supplying artwork that meets our requirements and specifications.

Layout: Specific instructions regarding layout and type styles must be clearly stated on your order. If these instructions are not given, we will use our discretion. Changes to art and layout will incur art charges and possibly delay production.

Camera/Process Ready Art: All art will be printed at maximum imprint size, unless otherwise indicated. Art on disk or via E-mail is preferred (see requirements below) but if disk art is not available, camera ready and color separated artwork is requested. Requirements vary with print method. We reserve the right to determine if art is process ready. Process ready art at imprint size must be 1) clean, sharp black and white glossy photo paper (all graphics, typesetting and layout included); 2) color separated. See screening/halftones section for screening recommendations.

Computer generated art supplied on paper should be a minimum of 600 dots per inch to be considered camera ready, and should be supplied at imprint size or larger. *Please note that photocopies, letterhead, business cards and faxes are NEVER considered camera ready and will require art charges and time. Requests to use artwork "AS-IS" and not process ready must be made in writing.

Electronic Requirements: All electronic files (disk media or E-mail) must be Macintosh compatible, and/or Vector created EPS (Encapsulated Postscript file format). Acceptable disk media are 3.5 floppies, 100MB Zip disks, or CD Rom and all Macintosh formatted. Any scans must be created with Adobe Photoshop at a minimum of 600 dpi, and must be 1 color TIFF or EPS format only. Halftone or screen scans should be saved as grayscale. Halftones not saved as grayscale will not be acceptable. Scanned screening will not be acceptable even if saved as grayscale. Text should be converted to outlines or the fonts (screen & printer) should be included. Web quality graphics are not camera ready.

Minimum point sizes should be 8pt Sans Serif for positive copy and 10pt bold Sans Serif for reverse copy. Helvetica will be used if no type style is specified. All jobs requiring typesetting will be faxed for approval. Delayed response to fax proof will result in delayed production. Once fax is approved, we will not be responsible for errors in typesetting. Any small trademarks (®,© & TM’s) not to a printable size will be reset larger as to be legible when printed unless otherwise requested on your artwork / layout.

Screening/Halftones: For silkscreen, screening in art should be 55 Ipi and between 15% and 45% density. Screening not to our specifications will not be acceptable, and may require additional time and charges to adjust art for printing. All offset screening is subject to a minimum of 20% dot gain.
